While working at Sierra Community College I enrolled in an art class and discovered the luminous and intense colors  in pastel paintings.  The time arrived after retirement to broaden my knowledge of  this challenging media.
I am most comfortable utilizing my pastel paintings to portray subjects that I have photographed of my family members, animals, birds and gardens.  I'm a member of the Roseville Arts, Art Council of Placer County, and Rocklin Fine Arts.

The summer of 2007 I entered my pastels for judging in my first art competition at the Placer County Fair and won  a 1st, a 3rd place, plus Honorable Mention awards.
I've shown my paintings in Rocklin's "It's a Grind" coffee shop, Rocklin Library, Rocklin's "Snowflake Art Show" at which I took first place in the Pastel Division. Have entered Rocklin Fine Arts Membership Show, Roseville Art Membership Show, and Adventure Gallery Art Event.  Won an award in the "Placer SPCA Woofstock" event this past summer and will be showing  in the near future in Rocklin at the Sierra Coffee House and Rocklin Florist.

Hopefully, I'll never forget the thrill of my first win!  Now, I can't imagine a world without color!
