Artist Biography-Randy Thacker

I grew up in Roseville, California and started painting while I was in high school during the 1970s. My medium of choice is acrylic on canvas. I am a self-taught artist, using a combination of pallet knife and brush to create a variety of textures. Painters who use a similar style, such as Vincent van Gogh, have been an influence on my style. I prefer using large canvases to create landscapes, waterscapes, and waves.

Over the last 5 years, I’ve spent more time painting, and have become more involved in the local art associations. I have shown my work at some local art shows and venues including the Snowflake Art Show in Rocklin, the Rocklin Fine Arts Show, and Sacramento Art Complex. Though art is more of a hobby than a profession at this time, I am working toward someday becoming a full-time artist.
