A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a 2020 Placer County graduating senior at the Rocklin Fine Arts Student Show during the Reception on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at 3:00 pm, in the Garden Room at the Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd, Rocklin, CA 95677. The Scholarship is one component of the RFA Jarrett Student Art Show sponsored by Rocklin Fine Arts for students in Placer County schools.
THREE REQUIREMENTS
The Jarrett Visual Arts Scholarship is offered to 2020 graduating high seniors in Placer County. Candidates must complete the following three parts:
1. Scholarship Application
2. Artist Essay
3. Scholarship Artwork
1. The Scholarship Application
• Application may be downloaded at www.rocklinfinearts.com
• Submit completed scholarship application and essay by email to Jer Jarrett, jerjarrett39@gmail.com
• Artist Essay & Application must be received no later than Thursday, April 2, 2020
2. The Artist Essay is a one-page typed summary by the applicant that must include:
• Your Name & School
• Your family, hobbies and activities outside of school
• Previous Art Awards, Exhibits, Events, Special Projects
• Art Organization Memberships
• Your Future Art Plans or Goals in Pursuing an Art Career
• Reason for Applying for this Scholarship
3. The Scholarship Artwork (1 entry per graduating high school senior)
Artwork must be done solely by the student and may be done in a media of the student's choice, including but not limited to watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, oil, acrylic, mixed media, ceramic, metal, glass.
• Artwork will be juried. Follow the link on www.rocklinfinearts.com to read the jury criteria for artwork.
• Scholarship Artwork will be entered and displayed at the Student Show, Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19.
• The Jarrett Scholarship and Student Show Awards will be presented at the Student Show Reception on Sunday, April 19, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
ARTWORK RECEIVING & PICKUP
• Deliver Artwork on Thursday, April 16, 2020, between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd, Rocklin.
• Pick up Artwork at 4:00 pm following the Student Show Reception on Sunday, April 19, 2020.
• Note that these dates and times also apply to hand-delivered art by individual students for the Student Art Show. Some art entries will be picked up and returned directly at participating schools.
ROCKLIN FINE ARTS (RFA)
RFA is a group of artists who seek to promote art appreciation in our city. RFA works to accomplish this through art exhibits, art demonstrations, work-shops, support of our local arts, arts in public places and art shows.
We hold monthly meetings, normally showcasing noted artists as guest speakers with some offering classes afterwards. We partner with the City of Rocklin in many endeavors to bring art to the public.

SketchCrawls are held the 1st Thursday of each month.
an informal meet-up of artists in an interesting local place. Participants bring something to draw with and something to draw on, or a camera.
